The Greene Hills Club is a 200-acre private 18-hole golf and family country club at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Stanardsville, Virginia — 20 minutes north of Charlottesville on Route 29. Raymond F. Loving Jr. designed the course in 1968. Par 71. 6,400 yards from the back tees. One thousand member families. A pool. Three pickleball courts. A restaurant called the Hills Grille with a two-story deck above the 18th green.
A Full Family voting membership in 2026 runs $287/month. The initiation fee is $2,000, paid as $800 up front and $100 a month over a year. The going rate at every other private club near Charlottesville is roughly double that, with initiation in the tens of thousands.
The course is a 1968 Raymond Loving routing.
It hasn't moved since.
White oak in the middle of the 7th fairway. 466-yard par 4 on 15. Water on the par-3 6th. The 18th finishes under the Hills Grille deck.

Farmington Country Club's initiation is reportedly somewhere north of thirty thousand dollars, with monthly dues to match. Greene Hills is two thousand at the door, paid in installments, and two hundred eighty-seven a month thereafter. The math is on purpose.

This is an absolute gem hidden in the mountains of Greene County, Virginia. The greens are crisp, full, and roll true. The fairways are immaculate.
An amazing private club north of Charlottesville not far from Shenandoah National Park. One of the better layouts and is worth playing if you are able to.

The club was incorporated by a group of Greene County families who wanted a private course in their own county. Raymond F. Loving Jr. routed eighteen holes on the property the following year. The course has been played continuously since.
There is a white oak in the middle of the seventh fairway. It was there before the club. It is still there.
